- The establishment of a free, independent diplomacy away from the different axis’ politics, with its sole focus being the defense of Lebanon’s interests.
- The activation of the diplomatic work
- Conducting the largest process of diplomatic transfers, formations and appointments.
- Holding a session to appoint economic attachés.
- Establishing new diplomatic missions.
- Appointing military attachés according to the rules.
- Introducing new individuals to the diplomatic corps through two civil service exam sessions (42 + 25 = 67).
- Appointing honorary consuls and establishing 97 new honorary consulates.
- Establishing the electronic linkage project to link all Lebanese missions abroad with the central administration through a virtual private network in the ministry, and creating several internal programs to link the emigrants to the services of the ministry.
- Creating “Mofa online”, an application on smart phones, as well as and creating a new website for the ministry and websites for more than 75 Lebanese delegations linked to the ministry’s website.
- Organizing effective diplomatic meetings, like several meetings of the Lebanese ambassadors at the global level in Beirut and around the world at the continental level.
- The activation of political diplomacy
- Defending the rights of minorities, including the free Christian presence in the East, through several initiatives, and participating in international symposiums and meetings.
- Confronting terrorism by all methods in all international forums (including lawsuits in the ICC Court).
- Restoring Lebanon’s presence on the international map and rebuilding bridges with all capitals.
- Securing international support for Lebanon through a series of international conferences and effective participation of Lebanon in international forums.
- Drafting the Syrian displacement policy paper, which consists of an complete plan to prevent settlement, naturalization and integration, and secure the full return to their land of the Syrian displaced and the Palestinian refugees.
Establishing new dynamics in diplomatic work under the appellation “Effective Diplomacy” by launching the economic diplomacy, the expatriate diplomacy and the cultural diplomacy (including gastro diplomacy).
Expatriate Diplomacy
- Adopting a law that allows the expats to vote abroad and be represented by diaspora MPs.
- Organizing the voting of Lebanese who are non-resident on Lebanese territory in the 2018 parliamentary elections (electronic registration: 92,810 voters – 115 centers and 232 ballots in 40 countries).
- Organizing LDE Diaspora Energy conferences: five conferences in Lebanon and seven continental conferences (in Africa, North America, Latin America, Europe and Australia).
- Launching the expatriate projects: Lebanese Diaspora House, Lebanese Diaspora School, Lebanese Diaspora Cedar, Invest to Stay, Buy Lebanese, Lebanon Connect, Lebanese Diaspora Fund.
- Organizing expatriate tours to continents, countries and islands where there is a Lebanese diaspora.
- Registering people from Lebanese origin in diplomatic and consular missions in cooperation with the concerned authorities.
- Starting the process of creating economic incentives to encourage the return of and investing by the diaspora in Lebanon, as well as approving special loans for expats with low interest and long periods.
Cultural Diplomacy
Spreading Lebanon, a message to the world, and marketing the Lebanese model and the importance of preserving it and highlighting the culture in Lebanon as its main source of strength.
Economic Diplomacy
- Establishing a network between the Lebanese chambers abroad to facilitate trade exchange and creating the ICH (Federation of Lebanese International Chambers of Commerce).
- Launching GastroDiplomacy and creating awareness and encouraging the export and consumption of Lebanese products in the countries of expatriation.
- Encouraging the expats and the residents to invest among each other and attracting foreign investments through BOT and facilitating the investment process abroad for those who are interested.
- Seeking to launch direct air and sea transport routes.
- Engaging with the regional economic groups: the Arab Common Market, the European Union and Mercosur (starting the process of signing the free trade agreement)
